Councilman Kozachik,
I regularly read your newsletter and thought I would share with you just a little bit of my wife’s family’s almost 8 decade history here in Tucson. This is from January 22, 1979.
What is not reflected here is that Alice [Tew Wah] Wong was not a ‘clerk’. Lucky’s Market was a minority/woman-owned small business. Alice was a naturalized US citizen from China. Her injuries were from being pistol whipped during this incident. The family believes that this incident led to later complications in her life.
As for certain attitudes here in Tucson, I’ll leave this from June 13, 1879, about 100 years earlier.
Respectfully,
Robert
